11/21/2011 -  Bluestar Silicones inaugurates its new manufacturing unit at Saint Fons

Bluestar Silicones inaugurates its new resin manufacturing unit in its Saint Fons factory, thereby confirming its commitment to growth and its determination to develop its industrial plants in the Rhône region.

This revolutionary production unit, named IRIS, will enable the resin production capacity to be doubled.

A technological breakthrough
IRIS has revolutionised the way in which the resins are made and offers:
   - a better quality finished product, due to greater precision in the chemical process
   - industrial and environmental risk management.

Around sixty engineers and technicians have been involved for almost two years in the research and completion phases of this innovative, internally-developed project.

Production capacity doubled in a growing market
"This investment at Saint Fons will enable us to capture growth exactly where it is, while strengthening our market share in the other more mature sectors," signals Pascal Chalvon Demersay, Bluestar Silicones Chairman. "This capacity increase is exactly in line with our development strategy for global sales with new key accounts in markets where we already have a strong position".

Saint Fons plant strengthened
This 7m euro project represents the greatest investment made by Bluestar Silicones at the Saint Fons plant for over ten years.
"IRIS means we now have the best current technology for resin production at the Saint Fons plant," explains Philippe Massuyes, Plant Manager for Silicones Rhône Alpes. "We are all the prouder given that it was designed by the teams in Saint Fons. After all the investment made at our plant in Roussillon at the beginning of the year, this is strong proof of Bluestar Silicones' will to develop its industrial plants in the Rhône region.

A new discharge reprocessing centre
The opening of Iris has been accompanied by the creation of a new processing centre for discharges resulting from the resin production. This additional investment illustrates Bluestar Silicones' wish to be a major player in the sphere of sustainable development. This commitment represents one of Bluestar Silicones' four company value.
