First and foremost, Bluestar Silicones shares the emotion raised by the defective internal breast implants manufactured by Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) Company.

Bluestar Silicones wants to state the following comments:
• We do not sell any products for the manufacturing of internal breast prosthesis for long term implant use.
• All Rhodorsil® branded products are exclusively sold for industrial use only. This is clearly stated in each technical data sheet and in each material safety data sheet, which are always communicated and provided to all our customers. This information is and has always been public and widely available via our web site & documentation.
• All our products for healthcare applications are specific for such applications and are sold under a different trade name called Silbione®.
• After inquiry, it appears that some of our Rhordorsi® products have been bought by the PIP Company via our distribution network.
• Bluestar Silicones has never been in contact directly with the PIP Company.

Bluestar Silicones will fully cooperate with all relevant authorities to provide all necessary information for their investigation.

Bluestar Silicones reaffirms that the use of its silicones as a raw material is only intended for specific applications depending on the product and as indicated in all commercial and legal documentation. All determinations of the suitability of the use of the product is the responsibility of the device manufacturer and this is especially valid for medical device.

This improper use of silicones should not reflect on the proper use of specific and dedicated silicones for healthcare applications.
